Forms Library

The Forms Library feature allows exporting and importing .json files to simplify the management of grids connected to Essbase.

Accessing the Forms Library

The interface is accessible through the hamburger menu under the Form library tab.

Form Export

1) Exporting a File Locally

Select the sheet you want to work on and click Export.
A file containing the connection information of the selected sheet will be downloaded to your computer.

2) Exporting a File to the Manager

You can export a file directly into the Manager.
To do so:

  1. Select the sheet you want to export.
  2. Click Create Form.
  3. A form opens where you must enter the name, description, parent folder (only folders where you are an admin appear), and comment.
  4. Click Create: the form will be saved in the Manager.

Form Import

1) Importing from a Local File

Using the Import form to sheet button, choose a local file and load it into a new sheet.

2) Importing from the Manager

By clicking Apply, the active version of the file will be loaded into a new sheet.

Adding a Version to an Existing Form

If the user has update rights, the Update button will appear enabled.

A popup opens containing:

  • The name of the selected sheet
  • A field to add a comment
  • The choice between a minor or major version

Click Update to deploy a new version.
An automatic email is sent to all users who have access rights to the form to inform them of the new version.

Refreshing the Interface

If forms have been added in the Manager, click Refresh to update the list.

Supported Formatting Details

The exported/imported .json file preserves the following elements:

  • Background: Cell background color
  • Font color: Text color
  • Font size: Text size
  • Font styles: Text style (e.g., italic, normal)
  • Font weights: Text weight (e.g., bold, normal)
  • Number formats
  • Formulas applied to cells
  • Merged cells configuration

Unsupported Formatting Details

  • Borders (thickness, color, style)
  • Text alignment (horizontal, vertical, indent, text orientation)
  • Gradient fills
  • Data validation
  • Hyperlinks
  • Comments/Notes
  • Cell protection
  • Conditional formatting
  • Inserted images or objects
  • Column width and row height
  • Custom page breaks
  • Specific date/time formats (outside of general supported formats)
